The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association is sponsoring an honorarium to be awarded to a high school senior in Wilkes and Lincoln counties.

The honorarium is available to students who plan to attend a college or a vocational school for the 2008-2009 academic year. Applicants are also required to write a 250-500 word essay on "The Importance of Furthering My Education."

Students applying should provide a cover page with their name, date, name of high school, and the name of the college or vocational school that they plan to attend.

The cover sheet should be submitted, along with the essay, to the high school counselor before the deadline of Monday, March 31.
