Tignall Homemakers treated to musical program at meeting

2008-03-06 / News

At the February 21 meeting of the Tignall Homemakers, the president, Celeste Adams, led the pledge of allegiance to the flagand welcomed visitors, Cliffie and Gwinn Ware, and Jackie Long. Joan Baker read the minutes of the January meeting and Linda Burns gave the treasurer's report.

Gwinn Ware then treated the club to a delightful musical program ranging from "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" to favorite hymns, with other tunes reminiscent of the Big Bands, Elvis Pressley, Ray Charles and many others. Some of the livelier numbers drew from one member the comment that she was "dancing in her head," a feeling undoubtedly shared by many in the audience. In addition to a non-stop half-hour program, Mr. Ware later entertained members with music while they enjoyed refreshments provided by Marilyn Summerlin, Dr. Sophia Bamford, and Joan Baker.

In a short business meeting, the president, helped by suggestions from members, arranged the schedule of programs and hostesses for the remaining monthly meetings of 2008.

Members sent their best wishes to Dr. Sophia Bamford for a speedy recovery.

Members present were Celeste Adams, Evelyn Bunch, Linda Burns, Paula Butts, Becky Dixon, Louise Harper, Sally Kennedy, Pat Mack, Edna Rhodes, Louise Smith, Marilyn Summerlin, Genevieve Thurmond, Mary Webster, and Joan Baker.
