March came in with a good sunny day and warm temperatures. Many people celebrated a leap year birthday Friday, February 29, which comes around only every four years. Happy belated birthday to all of you. Happy birthday to Cody Boatwright who had a birthday that day and I think he celebrates another day in the years that we have only 28 days. .We heard a wonderful and inspiring message, "Jesus, the Rabbi," from Mark 1:14-22 by Pastor Jim Newsome at Sardis Baptist Church Sunday morning. The congregational singing was led by Monica Gunter with Pam Hall as pianist. After a short children's message by the pastor at the altar, Monica Gunter took them down to the annex of the church for children's church. Another special message by the pastor was heard Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Prayer meeting is every Wednesday evening at 6:30. The time changes next Sunday. .There will be an Easter egg hunt at Sardis Baptist Church March 15 at 10 a.m. Please bring a bag of wrapped candy eggs or candy-filled plastic eggs. All children are invited to attend. For more information call Denise Armour at 706-274-3208. .Congratulations to Randy Boatwright and Deena Stewart who were married in a sweet ceremony Saturday at Sardis Baptist Church performed by Rev. Jim Newsome. A reception followed in the annex. .The Lunch and Learn Club met Wednesday with eight members present. We will miss Doris Smathers who will be moving back to her home state within the next week. She has sold her beautiful home in Jackson Crossroads of Tignall and bought on in Waynesville, N.C. We have met for our Christmas meetings at her home for the last several years and we always looked forward to her graciousness. She always had a surprise planned for us such as door prizes, etc. We will miss her delicious cooking and especially her homemade rolls. The members gave her a beautiful pendant and earring set. She promised she would come back to visit. I for one could listen to her talk all day because she has a wonderful mountain (hills) accent. She received many hugs and well wishes for her new home. .Prayers continue for Tillie Bufford, Joyce Bowen, Anna Brown, Wyman Roth, Emilie Rorie, Sallie Mae Arnold, Frank Turner Jr., Ed and Velma Crook, Dorothy Callaway, George Wideman, Kathryn Padgett, Pat Wynne, Betsy Wynne, Betty Wynne, Peggie Walker, Stephanie Chapman, Becky Thomason, Roberta Roper, Joyce Sifre, Linda Stevens, Cindy McCarty, Nancy Moon, Frances Vinson, Katie Goolsby, Arnold Adams, Pete Poss, Pete Hardy, Linda Echols, Gary Rogers, Joyce Blackwell, Frances Shank, Chris Charping, Sonny Chafin,Herman and Maude Mauldin, Joe Charping, Willie Welborn, Jenelle Newsome, Genelle Gill, Thelma Favor, P.J.
