Funeral services for Olander S. Callaway, 74, of Washington were held Monday, March 3, 2008, at Hopkins Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Chapman officiating. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery. He died Friday, February 29, in Select Specialty Medical Center in Augusta.

Mr. Callaway was a native of Wilkes County and had lived in Atlanta for 36 years before coming back to Wilkes County in 1999. He was one of 13 children born to the late Robert Thomas and Nellie Carlton Callaway. He was a retired truck driver for the City of Atlanta and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Virginia Edwards Callaway; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Boyd "Tony" and Karen I. Callaway of Eatonton; a daughter, Rachel Ann Brooks, Elberton; a brother, Otis Callaway, Washington; six sisters, Lila Mae Swanson, Kennesaw, Mary Pittman, Greene County, Ella Nell Saenz, Greene County, Rachel Johnson, Washington, Evelyn Bridges, Oglethorpe County, and Ellie Jones, Lincolnton; six grandchildren, April Isabel, Michael Isabel, Lisa Cooper, Markus Grace, Kimesha Brooks, and Tony Brooks; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Coonrod and Klab Cooper.

Pallbearers included Bobby Callaway, Justin Callaway, Tom Callaway, Ricky Edwards, and Melvin Johnson.

Hopkins Funereal Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
