Spring is in the air and we turn our thoughts to fishing! So does the Osprey as seen by this photograph made by Hugh Keener. This creature comes every day, circling high above, diving feet-first into the water, coming up with a fishand carrying it off to a favorite tree to feast. (Note the large fishheld in its left talon. Also note the size of those talons.) Hugh says you can walk right up to the tree in which it is sitting and it doesn't attempt to fly- just keeps right on feeding. It will make a screeching sound but it seems it is just to try to frighten you away.
