Tignall Homemakers meet, discuss springtime care of house plants

2008-04-03 / News

On Thursday, March 20, the first day of spring, the resident, Celeste Adams, opened the Tignall Homemakers meeting with the pledge of allegiance to the flag. After welcoming visitors, Sharon Freeland, Wilbur Maney, and Trey Rhodes, she called on Joan Baker to read the minutes of the February meeting and Linda Burns to present the treasurer's report.

Doris Rhodes delivered the de- votional which included a poem by Ramona Ray Woodson on the true meaning of Easter.

Celeste appointed a committee of Pt Mack, Becky Dixon, Louise Harper and Sally Kennedy to research designs for the 2008 quilt and also showed beautifully decorated Easter eggs which might furnish a project for a future meeting.

Wilbur Maney presented a very interesting program on the care of plants, with much useful advice based on his own extensive experience, and responded to members' questions and comments.

Sherry Bowers, Betty Jean Guin and Doris Rhodes served delicious refreshments with an appealing Easter theme.

Members present were Celeste Adams, Sherry Bowers, Linda Burns, Becky Dixon, Betty Jean Guin, Louise Harper, Pat Mack, Ouida Maney, Doris Rhodes, Edna
