Tyrone News
• The fifth Sunday services at Phillips Mill Baptist Church included the Lord's Supper following the morning message by Pastor Rev. Robert Rayner. Sunday night service was all singing, including congregational hymns of choice; the children's choir, a duet by Kenneth Byrd and Steve Olson, a solo by Mary Jane Scarborough, and special music by Rev. Skip Padgett. Pastor Rayner was with his wife Nancy at Eisenhower Hospital in Augusta. Your prayers are greatly appreciated for them. We were happy to have Mr. and Mrs. Milton Broome of Tabor Baptist Church among visitors. They are parents of our music director, Bes Moore, who means so much to all ages.
• Thanks to all who took part in the Easter service, beginning with the sunrise service, breakfast, Sunday School, morning worship, and children's choir presentation. The beautiful flowers for the day were given by Jason and Mary Beard Downs in memory of her father, the late Tillman Beard.
• Happy birthday wishes to three special ladies of Phillips Mill next week. Birthday wishes on Monday, April 7, to Rachel Callaway Johnson and Evelyn Hunter Cofer; and to Helen Stevens Lamar on Wednesday, April 9. Rachel will be 90 years old.
• Dan and Mildred McAvoy and Jerry McAvoy were happy to have the other children, Curtis and Linda McAvoy, Dorothy Ann and Jimmy Saxon, Donnie and Claudia McAvoy to spend Sunday afternoon with them. Other recent visitors include Marion and Joyce West, Marvin McAvoy, Gloria Hardy, and Warren and Lois Nunn. Your continued prayers are appreciated.
• Lee Maxwell of Atlanta spent Good Friday and Saturday of Easter weekend with his parents, Morrison and Priscilla Maxwell, sister, Mary Jane, and nephew, Tyler. That Friday afternoon Lee carried his mother and Tyler to several homeplaces starting at the Johnson homeplace where Priscilla was born and grew up and on to the Sherrer homeplace where her mother grew up and after Morrison and Priscilla married the place was passed on to Priscilla. A very good outing for all three of us. Lee cooked for all of us, giving Morrison and Mary Jane a break.
