WMH yard sale for Relay goes on in spite of weather

TO THE EDITOR:

Rain, shine, sleet, or snow, cancer patients have to deal with their disease 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Due to severe rain and storms, our family yard sale was postponed on April 5. I was determined to have the yard sale the next weekend. I looked at the weather report every evening. By Friday, the weather was predicted to be a 40 percent change of rain. My sons and I put up a second tent for the yard sale late Friday evening.

At about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, the tent has blown across the field due to strong winds that night before. I was getting discouraged but my father, a cancer survivor, was there to help put the tent back up. My father said to me, "Have faith, everything is going to be all right."

Through the storms, lightning and rain that morning, we made it through. Thanks to all the Wills Memorial employees that worked that day, and friends in the area, our yard sale was a success. They supported our team and bought lunch at the yard sale.

A big thank you goes out to all who purchased various items at our yard sale. Also, thanks to all who donated items and food. That day, April 12, goes out to all the cancer survivors, present and past.

May God continue to bless every cancer survivor. Be strong and have faith.
