Brown tells about Camp Newford; orators place in Zone competition

Kyle Brown presented the program at the Washington Optimist Club's monthly meeting held Tuesday, April 8, at the Fitzpatrick Hotel. Brown presented a program on Camp Newford - a Christian-based camp that Brown and his wife, Sandra, started in 2006. The camp is for kids ages 6-12 and is held each year in June. In 2006, they hosted 26 kids; in 2007, they hosted 86 kids; and the camp is full this year with a waiting list.
The Optimist Oratorical Contest winners, Callie Nickels and Damon Norman, competed in the Optimist Oratorical Zone 13 Competition held Saturday, March 29, in Augusta. There are seven clubs in Zone 13. Callie place third in the girls' competition and Damon placed second in the boys' competition. Congratulations to Callie and Damon on their fineachievement.
