Sunday morning, Pastor Jim Newsome brought a wonderful message at Sardis Baptist Church. The congregational singing was led by Joyce Fry with Pam Hall as pianist. The children gathered at the altar for a message from Pastor Newsome after which they went to the annex for children's church with Cody Boatwright. Sunday School was also held at the Echols Home for the residents. Family night was held Sunday evening with a meal and mission meetings. Sardis Church prayer meeting was held at the Echols Home Wednesday evening. ƒSardis Baptist Church will have homecoming on Sunday, May 4. Bryan Edwards, former pastor of Sardis, will be bringing the message. Tom Wells will be leading the singing. Tom is also one of our own and a former member of Sardis. A covered dish meal will be held in the annex after the service. Following the dinner the "New Apostles" of Crawfordville will be singing in the sanctuary. Everyone at Sardis is looking forward to this event and seeing folks come back home to Sardis. Everyone is invited.

ƒA good oldtime gospel singing will be held at Pentecost Chapel Saturday evening at 6 p.m. featuring Pastor Glenn Henley and the Eberhart sisters from Jones Chapel in Lincolnton. ƒLamar Berry went to his doctor in Athens Friday and got a good report from the biopsy of his larynx, ƒNina Boatwright, Kris Berry, Rebecca Davis, and Joyce Guinn spent the weekend in Savannah at the food service convention. They had a good and busy time with good weather. ƒMrs. Carl Sisson returned home with Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Wheatley last Monday after their weekend visit with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sisson Jr. in Madison, Ala. Mrs. Sisson had enjoyed a longer visit with Carl and Vickie having gone home with them on Tuesday after they spent Easter with family in Rayle and Monroe. Recent visitors of Mildred Sisson were Mrs. Maude Turner and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Winfrey. ƒBonnie Boatwright went to Bogart Tuesday to spend the day with Martha Jones. They went to Athens to join Frankie Jones of Athens and James and Sharon Smith of Stephens for lunch at a soul food restaurant. Bonnie was surprised to see Austin and Donnie Echols of Philomath come in to eat and get to chat with them. ƒSympathy is extended to Peggy Shockley at the death of her sister, Frances. She was a sweet lady and will be greatly missed. ƒBonnie Boatwright joined Shirley Chafin to attend Friends Day at Pentecost Chapel Sunday. We enjoyed the service with good preaching and singing and a wonderful meal. We always get to see many people we know. ƒGeorge and Mozelle Casey spent Sunday afternoon with Frances Fendley. ƒAaliya Berry spent the weekend in Commerce with Robert and Crystal Byron. ƒManuel Wheatley is recuperating at the home of his daughter, Denise Armour, and family, after having surgery. Many family members and friends have visited. ƒ Avery Hall spent Friday and Saturday with Wes Tanner in Washington. ƒ A lawn and garden party for Jonathan Wheatley and April Smith was given at the home of Tracy and Denise Armour Saturday. ƒAvery Hall went to Crawford Monday and Thursday with Clyde and Sandy Whittington to spend the day with Neil and Kim Frankel, Zachery, Kyle and Bryce. ƒPeggy Echols visited Melvie Esco, Bertha Slasher, and Owen Callaway Sunday afternoon at Quiet Oaks in Crawford. ƒKim Berry and Aaliya visited Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson Sunday evening.
