Hopefully everyone had safe and fun spring holidays. I heard of others who had to babysit and pet sit. One was Billie Ann Smith who went to Grand Island, Florida, to stay with her grandson, Kolby, and all their pets while daughter and her husband, Rischa and Joel Heape, spent the week in Naples, Fla., on a business trip. Billie Ann said Sunday that her mom, Katherine Anderson, made her a muscadine hull pie. I told her that I didn't know anyone went to the trouble to make muscadine hull pies any more. I remember my grandmother Dunaway making muscadine hull pies and they were delicious. ƒCeleste Adams did the pet sitting last week in Ranger with dogs, cats, horses, and a bearded dragon. Her daughter's family was gone for the week. Celeste's friend, Meg Burt from Duluth, came over and spent a few days with Celeste. Meg is her movie friend, so they tried to finda movie to go to and all they could findwere children's movies. They went to two of the children's movies and played cards. One day, policemen came to the door and told her she might have to evacuate because there was a chance of a dam breaking. Luckily that didn't happen. . . . Celeste always has some cute tales to tell. She said that a couple of weeks ago they had a covered dish supper at the church and after the supper she went on out to the car to wait on O'Neal. She saw the car was unlocked so she got in and sat there until O'Neal came and knocked on the window and asked her if she wanted to get out and get in their car now. She had gotten in the wrong car. I told her not to worry that I had done that before and actually gotten in the car with the wrong man and didn't know it until I looked up and saw it was Mr. Howard Jordan. I said, "OOPS, wrong car!" ƒTony and Marion Hammond and their children and grandchildren, Marc and Heather Hammond, Brock and Camden, and Bill and Terri Hammond, Lola and Makayla, all enjoyed a week at Disney World last week. They left in the rain and it rained when they returned but had a wonderful week. When they left Saturday, April 5, they got as far as David Reville's (two miles from home) and Brock asked if they were in Florida yet. Lola lost her first tooth while eating with the Disney characters, and Makayla broke down because they didn't ride the pink tram to the Magic Kingdom. Bill had to elbow everyone out of the way to get to the pink cup, the pink tram, and everything pink for Makayla. One day at lunch Camden laid his little head down on the table and went to sleep even before they got their food. They all had a wonderful time even though they were worn out. ƒWhen Rev. Dale Fincher said something about the kids going back to school the next day, the kids said, "Boo!" and the parents said, "Yea!" ƒMarjorie Gibson of Dallas spent the weekend with her mother, Lois Sale, and sister, Peggy Sale. They all attended a cousin's wedding in Hartwell Saturday. ƒWe welcome Katie Heard to our part of the town. I understand she has bought the home of Johnny and Brenda Truitt on Tyler Street. The Truitts moved to Elberton. ƒScott Ware spent Tuesday, April 8, in Birmingham, Ala., on a business trip. ƒMr. and Mrs. Ralph Denard spent last week at Yonah Mountain Park near Cleveland. They called it a freeze-out since they were hoping it was the last cold spell before the true spring. While there, they were joined on Tuesday by Mr. and Mrs. William Ray of Hart County and they went to Toccoa to visit Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ivestor. ƒSpending the weekend with Dave and Tody Derrick were Laura and Kathryn Ashe and Eliza Blade of Rock Hill, S.C. ƒLet's keep Nita Riley and her brother, Glenn Rhodes, in our prayers. Glenn had surgery on his veins in one of his legs last week. Remember Sara Frances Henderson also as she has had some health problems, and Thomas Gresham as he is recuperating from surgery. understand he had an aneurism. ƒWe were sorry to hear that David Hilley's brother, Sandy Hilley of Elbert County, passed away.
