City Council meets and considers grants for various projects
The regular meeting of the Tignall City Council was held at 7 p.m. April 9.
Those present were Mayor Richard Gammon; Council Members Nobie Keener, Leon Aycock, Albert Huyck, Charles Bradley, and Tom Jackson; Chief Mike Arrington; Water Superintendent Clyde Davis; City Clerk Elaine Jackson; City Attorney Michael Horgan; and visitors, Chris Quigley, Walter Parker, and Robert and Patricia Fuller.
The status of our sidewalk grant was discussed. Tignall has just started the process of this grant and will have to meet certain criteria before any funds will be made available.
Chief Arrington gave his police report in which he was able to clean up a debris problem on Highway 17. He has completed chief school and is working on a policy manual for the police department.
Chris Quigley brought the council up-to-date on the progress of the grant for the improvement of the water system. Tignall has been given two requirements that have to be met before the grant will be awarded. One is to have a required amount of money in a separate account. The other is a requirement to raise water rates.
The council was presented two plans and will choose after a study is done. Resolutions were passed on both of these.
