Tigers beat Oglethorpe in extra innings to finish second in 8AA
      There was no way the Washington Wilkes Tigers could overtake North Oconee in the Region 8AA South race last week so the loss to the Titans on Tuesday, April 15, made little difference - at least at the end. What did make the difference was a bounce-back extra-innings win over Oglethorpe on Thursday that put W-W in second place and secured a home stand for the playoffs.

     The Tiger baseball team and coaching staff recognized four seniors before Thursday's home game against Oglethorpe on April 17. Each senior received an autographed ball from the 2008 team.      Representing Briarwood Academy at the GISA Class AA region tennis tournament held at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Emily Henderson (left) and Taylor Stitcher finished fourth in girls doubles and thereby qualified for the state tournament held at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton. Henderson is a freshman and Stitcher is a sophomore at Briarwood.
