Once I went to the Washington Historical Museum. I learned lots of things. I learned how they cooked food ove100 year a bell in the backyard that had fallen from a tower and it had a big crack in it. They had dry wells back then and they used dry wells like refrigerators. It is about forty degrees in a dry well. They would store meat in a room called the meat room. The floor in the meat room was dirt. I wonder why they make the floor dirt. Do you? If you go to the museum in Washington you can findout!

I learned who made pottery and what they used pottery for. Do you know they stored liquids and foods in pottery? I didn't. Back then they used to call living rooms parlors. I hope lots of people will come to the museum. I had fun at the museum and I think other people will too.

On a recent trip to the Washington Historical Museum, third graders from Washington-Wilkes Primary School learned from Louise Denard about the Native Americans who lived in Wilkes County.
