Funeral services for James E. Scott, 86, of Lincolnton were held Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Faith Temple of Lincolnton with Rev. Wade Palmer officiating. Interment was in the Lincolnton City Cemetery. He died Thursday, April 17, at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington.

Mr. Scott was the son of the late James Thomas Scott and Susan Elizabeth Andrews Scott. He was a commercial fisherman and farmer. He was the widower of Lois M. Scott.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah S. and Edward Arthur of Lincolnton; two grandsons and their wives, Jimmy and Hilda Arthur, and Eddie and Patty Arthur, all of Lincolnton; three great-grandchildren, Tonya Harper, Samantha Arthur, and Dylan Arthur; four great-great-grandchildren, Scott, Niki, LeighAnna, and William; and four sisters, Sara Langley and Mary Bowie of Abbeville, S.C., Nelda Fain of Tignall, and Ruby Hughes of Waterloo, S.C.

Pallbearers included Danny Aycock, Chris Bufford, Josh Bufford, Perry Davis, Walter Palmer, and Charles Scott.

Rees Funeral Home of Lincolnton was in charge of arrangements.
