Mr. and Mrs. Steven Pickens of Washington announce the birth of their son, Joseph Robert, on Wednesday, April 16, at University Hospital in Augusta. Joseph, as he will be called, weighed 6 lbs. 13 ozs. and was 20 ¼ inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Mrs. Joseph A. Griffin Jr. and the late Mr. Griffin of Washington.

Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Bob) Pickens of Washington and Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Wheeler of Harlem.

Mrs. Pickens is the former Dawn Griffin of Washington.
