'I Do! I Do!' set to open Thursday, May 8 after many hours of study and rehearsal
When the Washington Little Theater Co. play, "I Do! I Do!" opens Thursday night, May 8, it will be the result of many hours of study, rehearsal, sewing, gathering of props, and the many other activities associated with producing a play.
Gail and Tom Duggan have worked hard to learn lines and use what seems like a million props. Janet Pharr, pianist, is a newcomer to the stage but has jumped in like a veteran to give the stars good accompaniments.
The magical seamstress, Leneau Cason, has made beautiful costumes on a shoestring budget and Mike Scarborough and Brandi Thornton went the second mile in getting Tom outfitted.Stage Manager Angelynn Price has done her usual great job in keeping things going.
Very important to the stars are their dressers. Cindy Russell, Debbie McLeod and Shay Harris are backstage all the time, frantically getting costumes ready and actually helping them get into them. The stars are on stage most of the time during the play so these people are critical to the success of the show.
Lighting is important in the show and veteran technician Hannah Sifre and new-to-the-light-booth Delaney Russell are handling this phase of the play.
The show runs May 8, 9, 10 at 8:00 p.m., and May 11 at 3:00 p.m. at The Bolton Lunceford Playhouse on North Alexander Avenue.
Since Sunday is Mother's Day, it is "Bring Your Mama Day" at the Playhouse. Adult "children" may bring their Mom (or Mom-in-law), buy a ticket or use your card for yourself and she gets in free.
The show is about marriage -- ups, downs, funny, sad -- and will appeal to adults more than children. "It is certainly not rated "R" and children are welcome -- they will just probably be bored," said Jo Randall, director.
Reservations may be made by calling 706-678-9582.
