At the middle school region tournament played at Sweetwater Park in Thomson, the Washington-Wilkes Tigers split a pair of games and finished in second place behind a tenacious team of Thomson Bulldogs.

The Tigers beat Glascock County in the first game 6-1 with Brian Hardigree pitching a no-hitter.

In the second game, W-W and Thomson battled into extra innings but Thomson came out on top 3-2 after 10 innings. Trey McAvoy allowed only one hit in seven innings before giving way to David Martin in relief.
