2008 Relay for Life exceeds much more than monetary goals

TO THE EDITOR:

As event coordinator and a cancer survivor, I am overwhelmed at the enormous support that the people of Washington-Wilkes demonstrated for our 2008 Relay For Life. This event, our 5th annual, exceeded expected monetary goals but of much more importance is the sense of community that developed as we all worked together for a common goal, to fight back against cancer. I would like to acknowledge everyone for their "above and beyond" effort. Thank you Wilkes County from the bottom of my heart.
