What are we going to do with the kids? That's the question being raised all over the country with seemingly no real answer. Several television shows had devoted their entire program to try to analyze and solve the problems of teenage violence and the senseless killings that have gone on in America's schools -- kids killing kids.

Back in the good old days when I went to school the worst thing we did was to get into a fistfight, smoke a cigarette butt, and maybe put a thumbtack in someone's desk chair. Now, it's Clint Eastwood, "Go ahead and make my day!"

Nowadays, children watch too much television. They have got too much time on their hands and the Bible says that an idle mind is the devil's workshop. In so many cases there is no real discipline. When there is, it's "Go to your room. You're grounded." Which is really a joke and kids know it when their rooms are equipped by mom and dad with $10,000 worth of state of the art sound systems, electronic toys, games, and gizmos, computer with internet access, and their own private telephone plus cell phone. Go to your room! Yeah! Sure!

What are we going to do with

the kids? The question with some should be, "What are we going to do with the parents?" If you can call some of them that! Gun control advocates cry

for tougher gun

control laws, but that is not the ultimate answer to kids killing kids. Criminals will still get guns illegally and kids buy guns illegally and where do they get the money? From mom and dad. They buy guns and drugs with their allowance. Money and more money. Give a kid a big allowance and the money mounts. Amen.

What are we going to do with the kids? And nobody is saying, "Take them to church and Sunday School," because so many parents don't even go themselves.

Back in the 1950s, J. Edgar Hoover with the FBI did a survey and found that about 88 percent of all prisoners came from broken homes and never attended Sunday School, and now even some church folks are wanting to do away with Sunday School because they say that it is outdated. The devil has sold them on a lie.

We need to bring children up in the admonition of the Lord because America is going to hell in a hand basket, so to speak. Folks are looking for every kind of program for the children and the best one has already been in place since the 1700s and yes, it's Sunday School. We should fill up our church with Sunday School attendees every Sunday, both young and old.

What are we going to do with the kids? They are looking for answers in all the wrong places. We are living in a day when everyone is an authority and everyone has got a book out with all the answers to hear them tell it, but let me tell you there's only one absolute authority and that is Almighty God and the only book that's got all the right answers is the Good Book. God's precious Holy Word.

What are we going to do with the kids? In our home is a plaque that hangs in the kitchen that simply says it all. Joshua 24:15: "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord!" Can you say amen?
