RDC's Youth Summit planned for Rock Eagle September 20

The Georgia Youth Summit 2008 will be held September 20-22 at Rock Eagle 4-H Center near Eatonton.

The conference is sponsored by the Georgia Rural Development Council, The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and Georgia 4-H.

Students currently in grades nine through 11 in Wilkes County are eligible to attend after submitting an application. This is not a 4-H only event. It is open to all students.

Summit is free to those selected to participate. The only cost is transportation to and from Rock Eagle. The Georgia Governor has decided to pay the cost for any student wanting to go.

The participants will take part in leadership development activities, learn about Georgia entrepreneurship, participate in round table discussions with the Georgia Rural Development Council and have a chance to interact with leaders from all across Georgia. Participants will also learn about Georgia demographics, geography, a bit of history, and opportunities that are all around.

Completed applications must be submitted to the Wilkes County Extension Officeby May 30. Application forms can be obtained from the Wilkes County 4-H officeat the courthouse, in the Washington Wilkes Comprehensive High School office,or the website, www. georgiayouthsummit.org
