Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Holland, the Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award for his many years of teaching and otherwise supporting graduate students in the School of Social Work. Holland founded the Masters in Non-Profit Organizations degree and last year stepped down as department chairman.
