Tignall City Council considers museum needs, watering rules
The regular meeting of the Tignall City Council was held at 7 p.m. on May 14. Attending were Mayor Richard Gammon; council members Nobie Keener, Leon Aycock, Albert Huyck; Chief Mike Arrington; Water Superintendent Clyde Davis; City Clerk Elaine Jackson; City Attorney Michael Horgan; and visitors Robert and Patricia Fuller and Kat Dodson. Tom Jackson and Charles Bradley were absent.
Mrs. Dodson has become involved with the preservation of the North Wilkes County Museum and presented the council with a list of improvements. She suggested solutions and had some ideas on fundraisers. With approval, she wants to form a committee to proceed. The council agreed to help in any way it can.
The new police manual has been done and will need approval from City Attorney Michael Horgan. Dis- cussion was done on raising water rates, but with two members absent, it was tabled until the called meeting on May 20.
Water restrictions are still in place as Wilkes County is still under a drought response level 4. Some exemptions have been made to allow the filling of swimming pools and some limited landscape watering. Updated drought information is available at www.georgiadrought. org
