Vacation Bible School will be held at Sardis Baptist Church from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 8, through Friday, June 13. There will be Bible stories, crafts, music, snacks and games. All children birth through eighth grade are welcome. For more information, call Monica Gunter at 706-274-3808. ƒSunday School starts at 10 a.m. with worship service at 11 a.m. every Sunday morning at Sardis Baptist Church. Sunday School is also held at the Echols Home with Nina Boatwright as the teacher. Sunday morning, Sardis Baptist Church enjoyed music directed by Pam Hall with Rebekah Echols as pianist. After the announcements, Sunday School report, prayer requests and praises, Rev. Jim Newsome called for the children to come to the altar for their message and prayer. Then the children went with Trey Berry downstairs to the annex for children's church. Pastor Newsome gave an impressive and interesting sermon titled "Clothed with Power." Sherri Standard and Ty Land came to join the Sardis Church as members and Sue Land rededicated her life Sunday morning. ƒFamily night was held Sunday evening at 6 p.m. with a meal and mission meetings. A lovely basket of miscellaneous baby items from the church was presented to John and Jennifer Armour and Mason for their new baby, Madison LeAnne. ƒ Sardis prayer meeting is held every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Echols Home. Everyone is welcome. ƒRuth Flynt was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center by EMS ambulance Monday where she stayed until Thursday. She is being treated with tender loving care by her children, Tony Taylor and Melvin and Jane Bailey and Taylor. She also received good care from the EMTs, doctors, and hospital staff. She is feeling much better now and appreciates the thoughts and concerns of everyone. ƒBonnie Boatwright joined her cousins, James and Kathleen Canup, in Lexington Tuesday afternoon for a trip over to Elberton to play bingo at Wendy's. Margaret Peterman of Lexington also went with them. ƒWilliam Hester of Covington spent Sunday with George and Ann Wideman. David, James and Mathew also visited. Ann visited Emilie Rorie at the Echols Home and Gene and Betty Winfrey during the week. ƒJ.W. and Bonnie Boatwright went to Athens Thursday for Bonnie's doctor's appointment. ƒTina Boatwright treated Diane Bufford and Nina Boatwright for a late Mother's Day dinner Saturday at the Olive Garden in Athens. Hannah Bufford also went with them. ƒMr. and Mrs. Willie Frank Blackburn, Mrs. Marian Poss, Mr. and Mrs. Reggie Gilbreath, Ronnie McAvoy, Mrs. Bernice McAvoy, Mr. and Mrs. Shaun Carter, Katie and Cody Brown, Chancey Maxwell and Mr. and Mrs. Brant Vickery had lunch at Ivery's in Thomson on Mother's Day. ƒBonnie Boatwright spent Saturday in Bogart with her sister, Martha Jones. Their other sister, Frankie Jones, also came over from Athens and spent time with them and all three attended a barbecue at the Christian Church in Watkinsville in the evening. Our brother and his wife, James and Sharon Smith of Stephens, were missed. They were on vacation in Seattle, Washington, visiting family and kinfolks. ƒJoyce Blackburn carried Marian Poss to her doctor in Augusta and they enjoyed lunch at Ruby Tuesday's. ƒBill Kennedy of Bluffton, S.C., and Johnny Lewis of Greensboro had lunch with Sudie Kennedy one day during the week. ƒMarian Poss, Joyce Blackburn, Gail Gilbreath and Ronnie McAvoy attended a Mother's Day party at Heritage Health Care Center in Washington on Mother's Day to be with Bernice McAvoy. ƒBetty Berry and Sybil Vaughn enjoyed supper with Donnie and Kris Berry Saturday evening. ƒJohnny and Kathryn Shedd, Paul and Hannah Wright and Ava, Alyssa Stewart and Jeffrey Roth enjoyed Sunday dinner with Tim and Gail Stewart. ƒGreg and Angela Armour, Cody and Hunter, Samantha Callaway, Sissy Smith, Abby and J.T., Richard and Lou Heard, Mattie and Hank enjoyed Sunday dinner with Buck and Linda Echols. ƒZachery Frankel spent Saturday night with Clyde and Sandy Whittington. ƒBecky Orr and Isabella of Lawrenceville spent Saturday afternoon with Billy and Doris Walker, coming for Isabella to plant her some pumpkins. She is a very imaginative little girl and loves her PaPa's farm. Grandma Doris made her a cotton sack back in October to pick cotton to take back to her school for show and tell. ƒA family reunion at the home of Virgil and Emily Whittington in Vesta was enjoyed by all the Whittington brothers and sisters and their families Sunday. Joining Virgil and Emily were Margie Rogers, Inez Moore, Daisy Parker, Esther Dawson, Calvin and Betty Whittington, Clyde and Sandy Whittington, Elaine Baker and her family. A big crowd was there for the celebration with all the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, the whole family except Sadie coming for a good time and some good food. ƒBarry and Dana Echols were here on Sunday visiting with friends and relatives. ƒPeggy Echols and Johnny Adams joined other family members for Mother's Day at the home of Sybil Hayes in Stephens. ƒCongratulations to Justin and Nicole Poss Dooley upon the arrival of a baby girl, Kayleigh Nicole, on May 5.
