JoAnna Morris Elkins
Funeral services for JoAnna Morris Elkins, 95, of Fortsonia were held Thursday, May 15, 2008, at the Fortsonia Baptist Church with Rev. Connie Ivester officiating. She died May 12.
Mrs. Elkins was a native of Tatnall County, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late Willie Snellings and James Buice Morris. The family moved to Elbert County when she was six years old and she lived most of her life in the Fortsonia area of the county. She was married to the late Rev. Charles Boyd Elkins who at one time was pastor of the Mallorysville Baptist Church in Wilkes County. She established a church library at the Fortsonia Baptist Church and served as librarian for more than 50 years. Her last few years were spent at Oak Park Skilled Nursing Care at Auburn, Ala.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Ila Elkins of Auburn, Alabama; a daughter, Joanne Elkins Martin of West Columbia, S.C.; four grandchildren, Charles Fowler, Michael Fowler, David Elkins, and Dianna Hill; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, J.B. Morris of near Macon.
Grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers.
