Lizzie Newsome, Justin Holmes guests of honor at linen shower
Engaged couple Lizzie Newsome and Justin Holmes were guests of honor at a family linen shower Saturday evening, May 17, at the home of the bride-elect's aunt and uncle, Jo and Buzzy Randall on East Robert Toombs Avenue. Joining the Randalls in entertaining were Lyn Randall and Bill Cannon of Tybee Island.
For the family gathering Miss Newsome chose a bright pink sleeveless top fashioned with a embroidered scalloped hem worn over a black skirt.
The house was festively decorated for the occasion. The pine table near the patio entrance featured the framed engagement picture of the couple and a cut-out picture and the words "I Do! I Do!" near an arrangement of yellow Alstroemeria lilies, yellow and white daisies, pink miniature carnations and asters finished with solidago and greenery.
An area in the foyer displayed two large hearts, one edged in pink gingham that featured pictures of the bride-elect, her family and newspaper articles of milestones in her life, and the other in blue gingham which noted special pictures of the prospective bridegroom, many in baseball uniforms, in keeping with his great love of baseball. Also featured on his heart were articles of special interest relating his accomplishments.
After greeting the couple, guests were invited into the dining room where the table held a buffet of delicious heavy hors d'oeurves. The table was overlaid with an heirloom crocheted cloth, made by the bride-elect's great-grandmother, the late Lola Rider. Centering the table was a spring arrangement of yellow, deep and light pink daisies and greenery.
Joining the couple and their hosts for the evening were the bride-elect's parents, Mary and Sparky Newsome; brother, Daniel Newsome; sister, Molly Newsome; grandparents, Jane and Smythe Newsome of Washington and Faye Maloney of Doraville; the prospective bridegroom's father, Mark Holmes, and sister, Abby Holmes, both of Oviedo, Fla.; and other members of the bride-elect's family, Randy Randall, Taylor Randall and Kelley Castenada of Clinton, S.C.; Melissa and Joe Greene of Carnesville; Don and Miriam Taylor of Atlanta; Jim and Karan Newsome of Rayle and Jenelle Newsome of Washington.
