Lauren Fowler guest of honor at baby shower held May 10
Lauren Lindsey Fowler of Statesboro was guest of honor at a baby shower for baby-in-waiting, Audrey Virginia Fowler, on Saturday morning, May 10, at the Washington Woman's Club.
Hostesses for the occasion were the Lindsey girls, Hillary, Taylor and Mrs. Fowler's godmothers, Debbie Wells, Vicki Harvey and Sandra Pope; also Mrs. Wells' daughters, Beth Lannae Rainey of Augusta and Amy Lannae Broadnax of Athens; Mrs. Harvey's daughter, Lee Harvey Durham; and special friends, Catherine Fievet Blount of Greenville, S.C., and Sara Jane Stover Gaither of Canton.
Streamers of pink sweet peas, fuchsia bows and pink ribbons tied to the front porch led guests to the front door which featured a grapevine wreath with tiny Crib-Pals, colorful ribbons and a pink bear dangling from the center.
Guests were welcomed inside to the register table embellished with a fuchsia runner and an arrangement of varying shades of pink Gerber daisies, pink roses and hypericum berries in a crystal vase. They registered on a page from the baby's keepsake scrapbook that was made by the mother-to-be and displayed for the guests to enjoy. Also displayed on the table was a framed copy of the shower invitation that was especially designed for the occasion by Mrs. Blount.
The main focal point of the clubhouse was a cascading drape of light pink taffeta monogrammed with a fuchsia "A", flowing onto the coffee punch and mimosa beverage table and puddling to the floor. Centered on the fabric was a towering deep pink rose topiary in a concrete container created by Kermit Hocutt.
Ribbons and tulle in varying shades of pink, green, fuchsia, purple and yellow streaming down from the chandeliers over the two gift tables created two elegant sheer canopies for the gifts. Antique silver baby cups dangled from the centers of the chandeliers. Fuchsia and lime green taffeta criss-crossing to the floor covered the tables with sheer bows of pink, lime green and dark green accenting each end setting the perfect atmosphere for the celebration anticipating the baby's arrival.
Silver baby cups resting on crystal pillars were filled with pink vinca and springeri ferns and adorned the guest tables that were covered in alternating lime green, fuchsia and light pink cloths with lime green and pink toile overlays. Baby crib toys were placed at the base of each crystal pillar.
A multitude of sheer ribbons embellished with baby booties and baby shoes trailed down from the mantels that were dressed in pink baby blankets and layered with Snuggle Buddies and pink tulle. Crib-Pals attached to silver sherbet cups filled with seven sisters roses also lined the mantels for added color. The crib toys were given to the baby's mother and grandmother at the end of the morning.
From the buffet overlaid in pink and lime green toile, was a fourtiered silver tray centered and filled with petit fours iced with lime green and pink baby booties. Also served was an assortment of party foods including cheese straws, sausage balls, a beef and cheese ball with crackers, mixed fruit and dip, ham biscuits and cinnamon-apple muffins.Three large pink hydrangeas filled the room with one decorating the huntboard where brownies and pink and green M&M's were served and the other two on the dish table.
The hostesses presented Mrs. Fowler a Pack 'N' Play.
Eighty guests were invited. Special guests attending included the prospective grandmother, Kathy Lindsey of Washington; great-aunt, Debbie Bender of Charleston, S.C., and aunts, Hillary Lindsey of Nashville, Tenn., and Taylor Lindsey of Athens; also Blake Hocutt and Gracie of Indian Trail, N.C.
