Lindsey Shay Hitchcock and Cary Edward Callaway united in marriage April 19 at First Baptist Church

Mr. and Mrs. Cary Edward Callaway Mr. and Mrs. Cary Edward Callaway Lindsey Shay Hitchcock of Lavonia and Cary Edward Callaway of Washington exchanged wedding vows in an impressive double-ring ceremony Saturday, April 19, at six o'clock in the evening at the First Baptist Church in Washington. Dr. Larry Finger of Lavonia and Rev. Albert Huyck of Tignall officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Patrick L. Hitchcock of Lavonia.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Callaway of Washington.

The altar was beautifully decorated with greenery and candelabra. The unity candle was used during the ceremony with the mothers of the couple lighting the outer candles just prior to their being seated.

Peyson Moss of Lincolnton presented a program of wedding music.

Mr. Callaway was his son's best man. Usher-groomsmen were Rick Callaway and Jason Callaway, brothers of the bridegroom; David Callaway, uncle of the bridegroom, Will Callaway and Josh Callaway, cousins of the bridegroom, and Jay Hendry, all of Washington, and Kevin Brown of Elberton.

Kyle I. Hitchcock of Athens, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Amanda Smith of Royston served as matron of honor. Miss Hitchcock wore a solid black dress adorned with a crystal brooch while Mrs. Smith wore a black dress with a champagne sash.

Bridesmaids were Katy Chow of Duluth, Brandy Sheriff of Lavonia, Melissa Decker of Sugar Hill, Marisa Caruso of Nicholson, Christy Meadows of Auburn and Sheila Callaway of Washington, sister-in-law of the bridegroom. Their gowns matched that of Mrs. Smith. All the attendants carried three cream callas with champagne ribbon.

Alaina Callaway of Washington, niece of the bridegroom, and Jae Lynn Mason of Auburn were flower girls. Champagne sashes adorned their ivory dress and they carried ivory silk baskets of silk rose petals.

Nephew of the bridegroom, Trace Callaway of Washington, was the ring bearer.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride was radiant in her ivory gown fashioned with a beaded strapless bodice and satin skirt designed with box pleats in the back with embroidery and beading on the train.

Her fingertip veil with blusher fell from a small crystal headpiece.

She carried a bouquet of red roses and black callas.

Of special sentiment to her for the ceremony were a German lace handkerchief and the wedding rings of mother and grandmothers.

For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Hitchcock wore a turquoise long dress and carried an engraved tussie mussie of light pink roses and black callas.

Mrs. Callaway, the bridegroom's mother, chose a bronze long dress and jacket enhanced with a beaded and jeweled neckline. She also carried an engraved tussie mussie of cream-colored calla lilies and roses.

The bride's grandmother, Mrs. John Cofer of Jonesboro, wore a lovely pants ensemble.

The bridegroom's grandmother, Mrs. Herbert Callaway of Washington, chose a mint green dress and jacket. Also seated in a place of honor with the bridegroom's family was his great-aunt, Mrs. Janet Wills Argroves of Savannah.

Mrs. Cofer, Mrs. Callaway and Mrs. Argroves were presented wrist corsages of sweetheart roses.

Mrs. Richard Gammon of Tignall directed the wedding.

Reception

The bride's parents entertained at a reception at the Court Street Livery immediately following the ceremony.

Lauren Potocik of Athens and Holly Hunter of Atlanta tended the guest register.

Black and champagne accents were used in decorating. Ferns, palms and masses of white tulips and callas enhanced the Livery and the white tent that extended from the Livery. Black wrought iron torches lined the entrance.Tall vases of white callas on mirrors decorated tables covered in black and white. Black and white jewels sparkled atop the mirrors also. A white canopy with miniature white lights was over the dance floor.

The bride's table featured the four-tiered champagne confection adorned with black ribbon and calla lily accents.

The bridegroom's cake was a two-tiered design topped with a University of Georgia "G" and finished with chocolate-dipped strawberries each accented with a Georgia "G".

A bountiful buffet of heavy hors d'oeuvres was enjoyed.

After the wedding party was introduced, the bridal couple shared their first dance followed by the bride dancing with her father and the bridegroom with his mother.

Favors were bubbles which guests used to shower the couple as they left for a wedding trip.

After an overnight stay at The Fitzpatrick Hotel in Washington, the couple honeymooned in Costa Rica.

They are making their home in Washington.

Rehearsal Dinner

Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Callaway were hosts at a rehearsal dinner in The Fitzpatrick Hotel Ballroom honoring Lindsey Hitchcock and Cary Callaway on the eve of their wedding.

The bride-elect chose a black dress accented with a white and black sash.

At the entrance to the ballroom was the bride's book and an invitation of the event.

Inside the ballroom was elegantly decorated. Mantels featured tiered candles, magnolia and snowball blooms.

The head table was covered with a black cloth with a white overlay while other tables featured white cloths with black overlays. Mirrors centered the tables to reflect the arrangements of white tulips, variegated pittosporum and hypericum berries and the tea lights surrounding the arrangements. Each wrapped napkin featured a single tulip and silver chargers completed the table décor.

A pedestal arrangement of tulips accented the dessert table.

Tables with white cloths and tea lights were on the balcony.

A delicious dinner of rib eyes with all the accompaniments was served. Desserts of strawberry cake, caramel cake, and chocolate mint brownies were baked by Mrs. David W. Callaway of Rayle, cousin of the bridegroom, as a gift to the couple.

During the evening, the couple presented gifts to their wedding party.
