Lindsey Guin captured the top honor for the Washington-Wilkes Tiger tennis team as she was named "Most Valuable Player" for 2008 at the team's end-of-the-season celebration last week. Also receiving special recognition were Katie Haughey, who took home the team captain award; Michael Edwards, winner of the "Tiger Award;" and Jamal Callaway, who was named "Most Improved. More ... Members of the Wildcats soccer team who went undefeated and allowed only one goal to be scored against them are (front, l-r) Bradley Wilson, Jose Juan Olade, (middle) Maddison Johnson, Dorian Wright, Matthew Acuna, Jasmine Fry, Christopher Acuna, Clayton Foster, (back) Mary Acuna, and Alex Acuna. In seven games this year, the Wildcats' total score was 34-1. More ... Catie Miller received fiveawards in the 9-10 age group at the Annual Georgia Games Precision Shooting Competition, including a gold medal for most outstanding overall shooter. Rebekah Hubbard was also awarded a gold medal in the 9-10 age group for prone position. More ... With a score of 457 out of a possible 500, Daniel Hackney was the high shooter for Wilkes County at the Georgia 4-H Target Challenge Weekend in state BB competition.
