I hope everyone had a nice and safe Memorial Day and weekend. There were happy children to be out of school and happy seniors graduating. Congratulations to each of them. ƒMy granddaughter, Beth Branham, graduated from Fanning County High School in Blue Ridge Friday night with over 220 students graduating. She is the daughter of Terri and Edward Branham. My son, Ray Branham, and I went for the occasion. Mae Dell and Philip Huff of Athens also attended. The family and friends gathered at Williamstown United Methodist Church in McCaysville for an early supper before attending graduation exercises. I spent the night with Edward, Terri, and Beth. Ann and Josh Caldwell brought me home Saturday. They are moving from Statesboro to Barnwell, S.C. ƒI enjoyed being with my family in McCaysville. Terri is retiring from teaching. She taught in Wilkes County Elementary School for a number of years then in Fanning County. ƒDianne Butler of Columbia came Saturday to spend the holiday weekend with Mr. and Mrs. James Sher- rer. Saturday afternoon James and Dianne visited friends in Elberton, Carlton, and Danielsville. She attended Sunday School with James at the Raytown Baptist Church Sunday. ƒSamille Sherrer joined Mae Dell Huff and her mother, Mozelle Wolfe, and spent Tuesday in Anderson, S.C. ƒMrs. Juanita Bradford and Mrs. John Sutherland had lunch at Ryan's in Augusta Friday then visited Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bradford in Thomson. ƒWe are sorry that Sue Davis fell again last Sunday. Her thumb and one bone in her right wrist were broken and she has other bruises. She has a cast on her wrist and also one on the ankle she hurt in the fall several weeks ago. Visiting her during the week were Lois Poss, Gloria Rhodes, and Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Stevens. Her daughter, Faye Scoggins, spent Thursday and Friday with her. Faye came Sunday and they went to Martinez to celebrate the 19th birthday of Hannah Scoggins at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Scoggins. ƒMr. and Mrs. Scott Blaine spent several days at their home here and visited Sue Davis several times. ƒIris Dyson visited Charles and Amelia Hopkins at their lake house in Elbert County Saturday. They joined other friends and enjoyed a barbecue and cook-out. ƒTad Hopkins spent the holiday weekend at his home in Jacksonville, Fla.
