Thomas Fleming celebrated his birthday Sunday and the Sunday School sang "Happy Birthday" to him. Later he was also recognized during the worship service and stood and told that he was born 84 years ago in the Palmetto community of Oglethorpe County and has enjoyed a good life. He received many good wishes. ƒI hope all of you had a nice Memorial Day weekend and put out your flags in honor of all the veterans. ƒVacation Bible School will be held at Sardis Baptist Church June 8-13 at 7 p.m. Children age birth through eighth grade are invited to come for this week-long adventure where there will be Bible stories, crafts, music, snacks and games. The theme for this year's event is "Outrigger Island." For more information contact Monica Gunter at 706-274-3808. ƒDebra (Bobby) Armour went to a meeting at Quiet Oaks Tuesday where she works in Crawford and Frances Fendley accompanied her to visit Melvie Esco who is a resident there. ƒMany from our community attended graduation Friday night at Tiger Stadium in Washington and also the graduation in Oglethorpe County. We had several graduates from our area. The ones that I know about are Rebekah Echols, Ethan Armour, and Russell Standard in Washington; and Mitch Davis in Oglethorpe County. Congratulations to these and all the other graduates. May they enjoy a good future. ƒLouise Smith and Lucile Edmonds of Anderson, S.C., twin sisters of Doris Walker, came and spent a few days last week with Doris. They went to the big Mall of Georgia in Buford Thursday and spent the night nearby at a hotel to enjoy some more time gallavanting the next day. Friday evening, Bonnie Boatwright joined her cousins at Doris' house for a nice supper of pizza, chicken alfredo, garlic bread, tea, blackberry cobbler, and ice cream. It was a hen party and of all the cackling that went on! We had a wonderful time. ƒMrs. Marian Poss, Mrs. Joyce Blackburn, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Poss and Katelyn, Lyn Carter, Katie and Cody Brown, Chancey Maxwell, Mrs. Angie Vickery attended the graduation exercises at Lincoln County High School for Amanda Poss, Marian's granddaughter. ƒBonnie Boatwright and Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson Porter, enjoyed a cookout Sunday after church at the home of Lamar and Kay Berry and Trey. ƒ Please continue to remember all the sick and bereaved in your prayers. Some that I know about who need special prayer are Velma Crook, Ruby (caregiver of Martha Hall's sister-in-law), Linda Stevens, Nancy Moon, Cindy McCarty, Chris Charping, Joe Charping, Joe Bufford, Frank Turner Jr., Kathryn Padgett, Dan and Mildred McAvoy, Jerry McAvoy, Herman and Maude Mauldin, Mike Webb, Gary Rogers, Bernard Welborn, Lamar Berry, Ed Crook Becky Thomason, Dorothy Callaway, Sherry Newsome, Fran Thaxton, George Wideman, Les Goddard, Sallie Mae Arnold, Nell Hubbard, Dorothy Callaway, and Bonnie Boatwright. ƒVelma Crook, Nina Boatwright's aunt, is in the University Hospital in Augusta. Let's remember her in prayer. ƒWes Tanner of Washington spent Friday night and Saturday with Avery Hall. ƒPeggy Echols met other family members Friday evening to attend the graduation of Kayla Stevens at the Oglethorpe County football stadium in Lexington. ƒAlliya Berry enjoyed going to the Mall of Georgia with other classmates from the middle school in Washington. ƒTuesday evening, Clyde and Sandy Whittington attended the graduation of their grandson, Zachery Frankel, from pre-kindergarten at the Pentecostal Church in Lexington. They brought Kyle Frankel home with them to spend the night. ƒ Saturday evening, Clyde and Sandy Whittington stayed with their grandchildren, Zachery, Kyle, and Bryce Frankel in Crawford, while their parents, Neil and Kim Frankel, went out on the town to shop and dine out. ƒFaye Johnson of Gray spent a few days with Ruby Arnold last week. They attended the graduation of Cody Williford and Koron McElhannon in Oglethorpe County. While Faye was here she and Ruby visited their sisters, Sallie Mae Arnold, Nell Hubbard, and Dorothy Callaway who are not doing well. ƒWilda Boatwright and Sudie Kennedy visited Joanne Lewis and Frances Nash at Greene-Point Health Care Center in Union Point Sunday. ƒKim Berry, Dorothy Callaway, and Ruby Arnold attended honors day at the middle school in Washington where Aaliya Berry received many honors. ƒHannah Wright celebrated her 25th birthday Saturday and was honored with a surprise party by her mother, Gail Stewart. Enjoying this with her were Gail, Kathryn Shedd, Angie Paul Williams, Alyssa Stewart, and Ava Wright. ƒLeeman Stewart was honored on his 77th birthday with a nice Sunday dinner at the home of Tim and Gail Stewart with Paul and Hannah Wright and Ava and Alyssa Stewart. ƒAnn Wideman recently visited her aunt and cousin, Nell Bowers and Steve and Sherri Bowers, in Danburg. She also visited her mother, Laura Hester at Heritage Health Care in Washington. ƒSpending Sunday with George and Ann Wideman were James, David, Matthew, and Watson. Sunday evening a cookout at David's home was enjoyed by all. ƒSunday guests of Buck and Linda Echols were Angela Armour, Cody and Hunter, Taylor Echols, Will and Samantha Callaway, Richard and Lou Heard, Mattie and Hank.
