Phillips Mill Baptist Church was happy to have Georgia Baptist Association Missionary Rev. Andy Perryman to fillin for pastor Robert Rayner who is having a lot of family health problems including himself. He has been very faithful over the years in the ministry. He is close to 80 years old and needs our prayers. The pretty flowers for the day at Phillips Mill were placed by the pastor's brother, Elmo Rayner, and his wife Hazel, in memory of his son who passed away recently in Texas. ƒPlease keep Phillips Mill's Vacation Bible School in mind and in your prayers. It will be coming up June 16-20 in the mornings. There will be something for all ages. If you would like to help out in any way please contact Charlotte Waller or Angie Roth and if you have any questions. There is always a need for help even if it's only by giving a hug or listening ear -- not only for the children but sometimes for old people around too. So please feel welcome to take part. ƒBob and Betty Ann West enjoyed a nice visit with her mother, Helen Taylor, in Madison Heights, Michigan, recently. They went especially to celebrate Mother's Day with her and got to see other relatives and friends. We are glad they had a safe trip to and back. They drove and enjoyed the views. Their children, and especially the grandchildren, were excited to see them back home. ƒCongratulations to Kimber Kirkland for being salutatorian of the graduating class of Lincoln County High School for 2008. Kimber is the daughter of Perry and Marcia Hunter Kirkland, and granddaughter of Virginia Stevens Hunter and the late E.F. "Rady" Hunter. She is also the granddaughter of Hazel Kirkland and the late James Kirkland of Lincolnton. Kimber plans to attend Georgia College and State University at Milledgeville in the fall. Among special friends joining the family of Kimber getting to attend her graduation Friday night, May 23, besides her uncle Frankie Hunter, were Rev. John King and his sweet wife Frances of Monroe. ƒRev and Mrs. John King made pop calls with a few Phillips Mill friends, including Mary Nell Denard, Mary Hawes, Henry and Faye McAvoy, Mildred and Dan McAvoy, Virginia Hunter, Morrison and Priscilla Maxwell. They stopped by Phillips Mill Church where Tena Moore showed them the stained glass windows.
