Wilkes County 4-H shooters earn gold, silver at Georgia Games Precision Shooting meet
CATIE MILLER Catie Miller received fiveawards in the 9-10 age group at the Annual Georgia Games Precision Shooting Competition, including a gold medal for most outstanding overall shooter. Rebekah Hubbard was also awarded a gold medal in the 9-10 age group for prone position.
In the 13-15 age group, Daniel Hackney was the high individual shooter of the day.
The Wilkes County BB Rifle Team met at Rock Eagle for the competition on May 17, 2008. Those contending were Daniel Hackney, Jacob Hubbard, Rebekah Hubbard, Catie Miller, and Sharkeia Wright.
The shooters participated both as individuals and as a five-man team, "The Smoking Guns." As individuals, the shooters were divided into classes based on age and gender.
At the awards ceremony, individuals were recognized and awarded on a points scale. The highest overall possible score was 400.
Rebekah Hubbard competed in the 9-10 age group. She shot an overall score of 336. Catie Miller, also competing in the 9-10 age group, shot an overall score of 353, beating her previous high score of the year. Sharkeia Wright competed in the 11-12 age group, shooting a 321 overall score. Jacob Hubbard competed in the 13-15 age group, shooting a 363 overall score. Daniel Hackney also competed in the 13-15 age group. He shot an overall score of 364, making him the highest shooter of the day.
REBEKAH HUBBARD Catie Miller received a gold medal for standing position, a silver medal for sitting position, and bronze medals for both prone position and kneeling position.
The Smoking Guns competed against many seven-man teams and placed twelfth overall with a total team score of 1737.
