Ebenezer Baptist baptizes members, honors servicemen
We had a sweet service at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sunday. It was very heart touching.
Three of our new members were baptized They were Alina Kemp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Kemp; Jennifer Durham, wife of Chad Durham; and Thomas Ambrose, brother of Jennifer Durham.
Dr. Leonard Dupree explained the ordinance of baptism, the Biblical background, the symbol of death, burial and resurrection (water); the symbol of the Christian life (salt); the symbol of the Christian Witness (light).
Then the candidates were presented and were baptized.
A moment of remembrance to honor all who had served their country and those who are serving today in the services were remembered, followed by prayer.
The choir sang a beautiful song.
Dr. Dupree told about the ordinance of the Lord's Supper: the Biblical background, the spiritual preparation, silent confession and repentance, renewal of the church covenant, the bread, His broken body, the cup, His shed blood, the witness of His death and second coming.
