Ashley Kearney is presented the Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association honorarium for this year by Frances Zellars, president of the LWREA. Ashley Kearney is presented the Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association honorarium for this year by Frances Zellars, president of the LWREA. Ashley Kearney is the Wilkes County recipient of the Lincoln- Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) honorarium for this year.

Kearney submitted an essay on the subject, "The Importance of Furthering My Education." She is the daughter of Vincent and Sandy Kearney of Tignall and will be attending the University of Tampa in Tampa, Fla.

Frances Zellars, president of LWREA made the presentation to the recipient.

Graduating seniors who attend school in Wilkes or Lincoln counties and who are planning to further their education beyond high school are encouraged to apply for the honorarium in the spring of their senior year. Information can be obtained from the school guidance counselor.

Kearney also received the University of Tampa Dean Scholarship and the Class of 1952 Scholarship.
