FFA presents over 80 awards at parent-member banquet
The Star Chapter Farmer Awards were given to: Gabe Strother (left) and Greg Callaway. Trent Martin (right) received the Star Greenhand Award. The Washington-Wilkes FFA Chapter held its annual Parent- Member Banquet last month and presented more than 80 awards to active members for their accomplishments during the 2007-2008 school year. Special congratulations went out to the star award winners and scholarship winners.
The Star Greenhand award went to Trent Martin. The Star Chapter Farmer award went to Gabe Strother and Greg Callaway. Also, Sheena Kopecky received the Outstanding Member award.
Members received a total of $3,000 in scholarships through the FFA. Winners were: Ethan Armour - $1,000 Ford Scholarship, $1,000 Bobby Reville Memorial Scholarship provided by Tena's Jewelry and Gifts; and William Garrard - $1,000 AgGeorgia Farm Credit/FFA Scholarship.
Scholarships are based on active participation in the organization. Any activity provided by the local, area, state or national FFA in which a member participates counts toward the scholarship application.
The 2008 scholarship winners were William Garrard (left) and Ethan Armour. The W-W FFA expressed its gratitude to Tena's Jewelry and Gifts, the Washington branch of Ag Georgia Farm Credit, and Washington Ford- Mercury for making the scholarships possible.
Sheena Kopecky received the 2008 Outstanding Member Award. |
