The descendants of Joseph Edward and Lenna Mae Dodd Bowers held their annual family reunion Sunday, June 8, at the home of Steve and Sherri Bowers Dobbs who live on the old Bowers homeplace in Danburg.

The unseasonable sweltering heat of the summer day did nothing to wane the excitement of the family as they spent the day catching up on family news, reminiscing, exchanging photographs, taking pictures, and sharing a covered dish lunch.

The high point of the day was exclaiming over pictures of the newest family member, beautiful Julia Elizabeth Enderle, daughter of Jamie and Robyn Chew Enderle, born Saturday, June 7, at 12:15 a.m. in Long Island Jewish Hospital. "Elvie", as her sister, Lili, is already calling her, is the granddaughter of Jo Bowers Chew of Conyers and the great-granddaughter of the oldest member of the family, Lottie Johnson Bowers of Covington.

Thirteen children were born to the Bowerses. Four of the remaining six living children of Joe and Lenna Bowers were present for the reunion. Sons Roy and Robert Bowers both reside in personal care homes, Roy in Showlow, Ariz., and Robert in Cherry Valley, Ill., and were not well enough to travel.

Estelle Bowers Amos of Comer attended with her daughter, LaVerne Baird, and grandson, Kelly Rhodes, both of Carlton. Her daughter, Retha Danner King, husband, Weyman King, and their daughter and family, James and Cindy King Barrow, David King and Molly Barrow, all of Danburg; also Mrs. Amos' granddaughter and children, Kim Hall, Claire and Jordan, of Floral Hill and guest, Reid Filipiak of Washington; grandson and family, Chris and Carol Bufford, and Mrs. Bufford's sister, Susan, all of Cusseta, Ala., and his son and family, Adam and Michelle Bufford and Aaron of Floral Hill also attended.

John and Resi Bowers flew in from LaFayette, Calif., for the reunion and also participated in his annual Tignall School reunion on Saturday.

Bill and Brenda Bowers of Mitchell attended with their son, Stanley Bowers of Pendergrass, and grandsons and family, Tommy, Charles and Bill Bowers, and Bill's wife, Nisi Bowers, all of Jefferson.

Rennie Bowers Jordan and her son, Mark Jordan, of Toccoa attended.

The late Rob and Corrie Bowers Danner's family was well represented by daughter, Mary Lenna Danner Weaver of Conyers and son, Bobby, and Connie Butler Danner of Floral Hill. Jo Anne Denard Danner, widow of son, J.B. Danner, attended with all her family from Floral Hill who included sons and families, Randy and Debbie Danner, Dana and Katie, and Ricky and Caroline Callaway Danner and Ben.

Grady Bowers' family was represented by his widow, Nell Hester Bowers who lives next door to daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Steve Dobbs, and son and family, Ken and Lisa Starrett Bowers of Grovetown.

Son Joe Bowers was represented by his widow, Lottie Johnson Bowers of Covington and their daughter, Jo Bowers Chew of Conyers.

Paul Bowers was represented by his widow, Pat Mabry Tabor of Hendersonville, N.C., and their daughter, Paula Bowers Pinkerton of Bogart.

Unfortunately none of the late twins, Jesse and James Bowers, nor the late Carl Bowers families were able to attend.
