The Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation hosted its annual Soccer Camp last week, with some 33 kids learning soccer fundamentals and skills in preparation for the fall soccer league that is open for registration.

"From 4-8 p.m. each day last week, 33 kids ranging from 4 years old to 13 learned valuable soccer fundamentals and skills," said Kevin Smith. "Coaches emphasized that soccer teaches teamwork, integrity, and pride in one's abilities."

Coaches serving the soccer camp include Kevin Smith, Kenny Sifre, Cole Deshazo, Octay Ulker, Jasmine Colunga, Josh Morris, Jesus Maldonado, Khalil Zahran, and Josh McLeroy.

Registration for the upcoming fall soccer league started July 15 and continues through August 15, Smith said. The registration fee is $35.

A parent and coaches meeting is set for 7 p.m. August 3 at the Parks and Rec Gym complex for anyone interested in the future of the recreational soccer league, Smith said.
