The Washington Optimist Club held its monthly lunch meeting at the Fitzpatrick Hotel's Down Under Restaurant on Tuesday, July 8. Faye Thornton, manager of McDonalds presented the program. Thornton discussed the importance of the Ronald McDonald House, emphasizing the one located in Augusta at 938 Greene Street. She explained that the program provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. In 2007, the Ronald McDonald House program grew to 271 houses in 30 countries. Club President David Chafin (right) was the program host.
