Rothman tells about movie making
Club member Phil Rothman was the guest speaker at the Washington Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, July 22, when he spoke about "Moviemaking at Holly Court." He discussed the recently produced film, "Deception," by writer/producer/director/ actor Vianlix Mestey-Schneider, a member of the Independent Film and TV Association. Shot at Holly Court Inn on South Alexander Avenue the Mestey-Schneider film was independently financed. Rothman described the filming process and gave a short history of the independent film industry. He told members that, nationwide, over 400 independently produced TV programs and films are made annually which generate about $4 billion dollars for the economy. Rothman said that Washington-Wilkes is a "Film Friendly Community" and expressed the hope that more independently produced films are made here.
