Surrounded by friends, Chamber members, and fellow merchants, Richard and Dana Kibby cut the ribbon on their new business, Retro Cinema and Books Saturday afternoon. Since opening, the movie-memorabilia-packed book/video/music store and cinema, combined with a wine bar by the theater, has been busy with local customers and visitors who read about the cinema in an Athens magazine. Their carefully selected movies with specially chosen themes and genres appeal to moviegoers, they say, in addidtion to playing classic Hollywood films from the '40s and '50s on "Retro Nite." "We have felt so welcomed by Washington and the business community," Dana said. "We just wanted to open a place that we'd like to come and spend an evening with friends."
