Kiwanians hear state of the county

Kiwanians hear state of the county Wilkes County Comission Chairman Sam Moore (center) spoke to Tueday afternoon's Washington Kiwanis Club meeting, a guest of Ed Geddings (left) and Ross Maynard. Moore told the club that the Wilkes County government is strong and efficient, with a tight, trim $7 million budget. The county offers a great deal of services for the taxes it collects, Moore said. Three new industries are looking at locating their businesses in Wilkes County at this time, he said, and the Payroll Development Authority is always working with long-term industrial prospects to bring in more jobs to the county.
