'Stepping Up' Bible study to begin August 13

The First Baptist Church will have a seven-week Bible study using "Stepping Up" by Beth Moore.

The study will be held on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m.; and on Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. The first Wednesday session will be on August 13; and the first Thursday session will be on August 14.

The only cost is for a workbook for $16.00. These will be available in the church office or at the first session. Child care will be provided.

The study is described as "a journey through the Psalms of Ascent" using Psalms 120-134. Beth Moore says that traveling pilgrims sang these psalms both on the way to the great festivals of the Jews and as key elements of the worship at those festivals."

Participants will interact with Moore and the Scriptures in new ways. They are expected to gain a new appreciation for the life of faith as a journey to greater fellowship with and worship of God.

"I am expecting nothing less than a new level of relationship and intimacy with God through these psalms," Moore says. "I ask you to settle for nothing less as well. The more we unveil our faces to God and bare our souls to Him, expressing what is on our hearts, the safer we'll feel with Him and the closer we'll be to Him."

First Baptist will be having another seven-week study beginning in October on "The Power of a Praying Wife" by Stormie Omartian.

Anyone interested is invited to attend the sessions.
