Atkinson earns Masters at UGA

Jamie Craig Atkinson of Washington has graduated with his Master of Education Degree in Science Education from the University of Georgia and has been named one of the AMGENNational Science Teachers Association Fellows for the 2008-2009 school year.

As an AMGEN-NSTA Fellow, Atkinson will be working in a cohort of science teachers from around the country to enhance professionalism in science education, create new initiatives to enhance science instruction, improve teacher content knowledge, and promote ementoring activities among science educators. He will be participating in e-mentoring activities through the New Science Teachers Academy and Montana State University that includes a network of scientists and educators working to exchange ideas, information, and resources.

Atkinson is married to the former Jennifer B. Lance of Lexington and currently teaches science at Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School.
