Soccer signup extended; football registration continues
      The Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department (WWPRD) has announced the following activities and programs which will be coming up in the next few weeks. Fall Soccer The final deadline for registration has been extended to August 29. The registration fee is $35. No late signups will be accepted.

Punt, Pass, and Kick competition set for Sept. 13 at stadium
      The Optimist Club of Washington will sponsor the 2008 Punt, Pass, and Kick competition Saturday, September 13, at Tiger Stadium, beginning at 10 a.m. All boys and girls ages 8 to 15 are eligible to participate. Competition will be held rain or shine.

State park's pool hours announced, to close next month
      The A. H. Stephens State Park pool will be open during regular hours August 6-9 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and August 10 from 12-5 p.m. After this time the pool will be open during weekends only. The schedule will be August 16 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., August 17 from 12-5 p.m., August 23 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., August 24 from 12-5 p.m., August 30 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
