Workshop set to help potential homeowners Saturday, August 30

A free educational workshop will be held on Saturday, August 30, at the Church of Christ located at 58 Lexington Ave. in Washington, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Attendees will learn about how to improve and maintain good credit, and how to protect themselves from consumer scams and identity theft, said organizer Barbara Bacon. "Information will be available on programs that can help you with home repairs, steps to becoming a homeowner, and types of down payment assistance."

Information will also be available about a senior employment program. "If you're 55 years old or older, unemployed, and living on a limited income and would like to receive job training and get paid while you learn, you could be an ideal candidate for the Older Americans Community Senior Employment Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor.

The free educational workshop is being sponsored by the City of Washington and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. Refreshments will be served and there will be free give-aways. For more information call Kim Evans at 706-678-3277, or Barbara Bacon at 706-552-3278.
