Congratulations and best wishes to Sarah Fanning who grew up at Phillips Mill Baptist Church upon her graduation from the University of Georgia in Athens August 2. Sarah is the granddaughter of Thomas Fanning and the late Sandra Armour Fanning of Washington and Jen and Joyce Johnson Moore of Phillips Mill. ƒThanks to all who got to attend and take part in the Phillips Mill Baptist Church revival last week. I understand that there was pretty good attendance at all services and everyone enjoyed having the visiting ministers, Rev. Don Rosser who did the preaching and Rev. Steve Rayner who led the singing and presented specials. Rev. Rosser sang one night and Rev. Sherman "Skip" Padgett and his sweet wife sang one night. Thanks to Faye McAvoy and Bes Moore who played the piano and organ. Everyone had a chance to enjoy homemade ice cream together in the fellowship hall following the Wednesday night service. Thanks also to all who donated the ice cream and other refreshments. The Padgett family was among those left out in my homecoming write-up. ƒ Thanks to Tammy Moore for the pretty flowers Sunday at Phillips Mill Baptist Church. They were placed in loving memory of her grandmother, Sara Brooks. ƒChurches of the Georgia Baptist Association are reminded of the Christmas in August get-together bringing items for the Georgia Baptist Children's Home. The program will be Saturday morning, August 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mission Center in Washington. I would like to thank each church family who had a part. Each item is greatly appreciated. ƒRelatives visiting Dan, Mildred, and Jerry McAvoy were Joe and Debra Hardy, Billy McAvoy, and Dorothy Ann Saxon. ƒLee Maxwell spent several days last week with his family, Morrison and Priscilla Maxwell, and his sister, Mary Jane, and nephew, Tyler. He came especially to take his mother to Athens Thursday and Friday to see doctors for tests and pictures, getting ready for complete hip replacement next week. Your prayers for the whole family have been greatly appreciated all these months of pain and suffering. God has been so good and encouraging in many ways and signs. ƒRemember, God loves you.
