Who in South Dakota would know about Tignall, Ga., other than Vivian Wolozin's granddaughter? About a week ago Henry Strother traveled to South Dakota and stopped at a restaurant there. He struck up a conversation with a man in the restaurant who asked him where he was from. When Henry told him Georgia, he said, "I bet you never heard of Tignall, Georgia." Henry said he almost fell out of his chair. He told him he had heard of Tignall and the man then asked if he knew Jimmy Tanner. Well, it seems that this man, Lester Patocha, had been in the navy with Jimmy in the 1960s and he had been to Tignall with Jimmy at one time. They had lost touch over the years, but he gave his phone number to Henry to give to Jimmy. Now they have talked on the phone and have been catching up with what has gone on in their lives in the last 40 or so years. Isn't this a small world! ƒ Christine Burton has counted 30 hummingbirds at her feeders and she is getting a third feeder because of so many. If you are missing some hummingbirds in the Tignall area, they are all at Christine's. OOPS, I just found out that Donald Ware has some of those hummingbirds. ƒI hope some people got a chance to see the meteor shower last week. I went out at midnight to see this spectacular show but the trees were in the way. I saw lots of stars but not the shower. I did not get very far out into the yard because I didn't want to be run over by all our wild animals that prowl around at night. ƒVisiting with Margaret Fortson last Thursday was her cousin, Earl Higginbotham and his son Zeke from Houston, Texas. ƒJordan Tyler of Hoschton spent the weekend with his grandparents, Alex and Kay Tyler. Kay took Jordan back home Sunday afternoon and went by to see Ruth Dunaway in Winder. ƒWe extend sincere sympathy to the family of Mrs. Myrtice Harrison. She was a recent resident of the Tignall Assisted Living. Mrs. Harrison's son, Jimmy Harrison, lives in Tignall, but she had other children from out of town. The funeral was in Monroe last Friday. We will all miss those beautiful flowers at her house. She really had a green thumb and could make anything grow. ƒDebbie Lindsey, Pauline Bell, and Carolyn Gammon attended the funeral of Mrs. Virginia Sikes, mother of Janet Hill, in Alamo on Sunday. Janet Hill is a former first grade teacher and then librarian at the Primary School in Washington for many years. When she retired, she and her husband Mort Hill moved down to Alamo to be with Janet's mom. Everyone here misses them. ƒGraydon and Pat Bobo attended the funeral of Rev. Lester Clark of Augusta Monday. Rev. Clark was a lifetime friend of the Bobos and a cousin of Frances Vinson. ƒVisiting with Mildred Tyler Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Ferguson of Marietta. Mrs. Ferguson is Mildred's sister. ƒOn Saturday night, 12 young adults of Beulah Baptist Church went to Tee's in Augusta for supper. Pat Mack went along with the group. ƒ Let's keep Charlton Ware in our prayers as he continues to improve. Let's hope he was well enough to start back to college in Milledgeville this week. Let's also continue our prayers for Jon Smith. He has come a long way and is responding some to his family. I understnad that Jon will be going into a nursing home in Madison this week. Also let's remember Joan Baker, Shirley Roberson, and Steve Dobbs in our prayers.
