Graveside services for Willie Lee Samuel, 83, were held Sunday, August 17, 2008, at Gibson Grove Baptist Church, Washington, with Pastor Joseph Williams officiating. He died August 12 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Samuel was the son of the late Weaver and Annie Mae Samuel. He was a retired truck driver for Industrial First in Cleveland, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Samuel of Washington; two brothers, Johnny Samuel and Emery Samuel of Washington; five sisters, Clara L. Weems of Norristown, Penn., Rosa M. Curry of Philadelphia, Penn., Maeozia Samuel of Willingboro, New Jersey, Ruth Moss of Philadelphia, Penn., and Marie Wooten of Washington; six daughters Carrie M. Philpot, Decatur, Ruby King and Gloria Jean Bount, Augusta, Virginia Samuel, Leesburg, Fla., Joyce Turner and Barbara Ann Cade, Washington; 19 grandchildren; and 29 greatgrandchildren.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
