We are finally getting little showers of rain throughout the county. How wonderful. I for one am thankful for every drop. ƒA favorite cousin of mine, Margaret Holliday Wilburn of Laurens, S.C., lost a battle with cancer last Thursday night. She had been diagnosed only two months ago. Margaret was a go-getter; one who was always busy, always helping others; and a wonderful Christian. She lost her dad, her husband, two brothers, and her mom last Thanksgiving Day. My brother, Garnett Wallace, my mom, Blanche H. Wallace, and I attended her funeral Sunday in Laurens at Welcome Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Andy and Bradley, three grandchildren, and one sister. I recently spent a Sunday and Monday with Margaret and her family. So glad I got to visit her. ƒLinda Standard, Sarah Huff and I attended the Reese family singing at the First Assembly of God Saturday evening. It was great. I saw Frank and Lou Bentley, Beverly Hopkins, and Judy Brown from Wilkes County, just to name a few. ƒBarbara Adams and Betty Moore were among those who attended the Moore family reunion at Alexander Stephens Park in Crawfordville Sunday. ƒHunter Sifre, Michael VanHart, and Gabe Strother visited Roy Chesnut recently. ƒCalley Ryll spent Saturday night with her grandmother, Lucille Ingram. ƒTyler Davenport will return home Tuesday to his new home in Asheville, N.C. His aunt, Trudy Ingram, will carry him home and spend a few days with Kevin and Lisa Davenport. ƒ Linda Standard attended a baby shower for Shala Hendry Phillips of Elberton at the home of Linda Pollock Sunday afternoon. ƒAlex Dunaway visited Linda Battle and Linda Standard last week. Alex is so good to check on his neighbors. ƒJamie, Charlene, and Anna Newsome of Martinez, along with Mrs. Jenelle Newsome, visited Rev. and Mrs. Jim Newsome in Rayle Saturday. ƒ Happy belated birthday to Troy Brown and his twin, Floy Brown (of California), who celebrated birthdays last week. ƒLinda Standard, Aubrey and Michael Mathe visited Sarah Huff, Cassie Goldman, and Bryson Taylor several times last week. ƒI visited my parents several days last week. ƒOur prayer concerns include Mrs. Mable Workman, William Johnson, Nita Edwards Riley, Louise Williams, Ruth Freeman, Jimmie Lou Benton, Priscilla and Morrison Maxwell, Henry and Blanche Wallace, Ann Charping, Alma Lunceford O'Neal, Jane Hudson, Linda Albea, Hilda Palmer, Leona Burke, Bill Mobley, Grace Dunaway, Philip Hoffman, Mildred Steed, Bennie Martin, Robert Gay, Elizabeth Dunnaway, Bobby Myers, Dot Shank, Ethel B.
